Scarification

The Problem

A number of lawn problems are caused by a build up of thatch and moss. Thatch forms at the base of grass stems, caused by a build up of organic matter such as grass clippings and dead leaves, which traps moisture and cultivates the ideal environment for moss to thrive. Together, these lawn conditions prevent essential water, air and nutrients from entering and nourishing the soil.

The Natural Solution

The Great Lawn Company use scarification as a mechanical process for removing thatch from lawns and allowing air into the soil surface. Our Specialists use a Scarifier which has a series of sharp tungsten blades that rotate at high speed and cut into the lawn, removing thatch and cutting grass stolons to promote new stem growth.

The Benefits

Scarifying removes the thatch layer and moss, and allows air into the surface of the soil. Once the thatch layer has been removed it can be used for composting, providing a natural fertiliser to boost growth in your garden.
