When is the best time to start using The Great Lawn Company’s services?
Our natural treatments and services can transform your lawn at anytime of the year, though treating it in early Spring will help to get your lawn in great shape for the rest of the year. Our Autumn treatments will prepare your lawn to get through the winter in a healthy state ready for the coming Spring.

How soon will I notice a difference?
Our products are formulated to produce a quick initial response followed by a long term positive effect on soil and grass health.

How do your products differ from those used by other lawn care companies?
Other lawn care companies tend to make sure that you can see growth by using fertilisers containing high quantities of nitrogen and iron fertiliser. But this means more time spent mowing lush and long grass, and the materials used can also harm the soil microbes that grass needs for protection against disease and environmental stresses, e.g. heat and cold. This often means more expense on chemical pesticides to keep your lawn healthy. Our natural products rehabilitate your lawn, producing healthy grass and soil to ensure a great looking lawn without relying on pesticides.

Are they different from products I can buy from a Garden Centre of wholesaler?
Our products are unique to The Great Lawn Company. They are formulated by us and cannot be bought from any other source.

Do I need to keep my pets and/or children off the lawn after treatments?
Our lawn feeds are 100% natural and therefore completely safe for children and pets, even straight after the treatments have been applied. Only if weed killer is applied will you be required to stay off the lawn for a 24-hour period after application. See our disclaimer on the use of weed killer here.

What if I already have a gardener?
We provide specialist expertise for looking after your lawns. Our Specialists are trained in carbohydrate nutrition for turfgrass surfaces and can help your gardener to produce the fantastic lawns you want.

Do I have to be in when TGLC calls?
No. Our Specialists will only carry work that has been pre-booked and a card will be left notifying you of the visit and work carried out. You will be able to make any necessary arrangements with your local Specialist beforehand, e.g. location of keys for side gates.

Do I need to water my lawn after TGLC calls?
Unlike synthetic fertilisers used by other lawn care companies, our granular fertilisers do not require watering in straight away to prevent scorching of the grass leaves. However, we would recommend watering of your lawn if no rain has fallen three days after application to help the granules break down and start fertilising your lawn.

Are you able to give me advice for looking after my lawn?
By booking an appointment with your local Specialist you will receive a written FREE Lawn Analysis, or you can call us to arrange a discussion with our Technical Advisors. There is also a FREE downloadable Lawn Care Guide available from our website. All our customers receive an After Care Guide with useful tips for maintaining your lawn between treatments.

Will your services affect when and how often I cut my lawn?
Modern fertiliser treatments will mean more growth and extra mowing. However, our natural treatments are not designed to produce excessive growth and will result in less mowing than if using a synthetic fertiliser that forces growth.

Is TGLC licensed to treat lawns?
All our Specialists have been trained in lawn management, and are also NPTC licensed and registered spray operatives.

Why do you recommend year round treatment?
The common perception is that grass stops growing for the winter. The reality is that the soil microbes essential for healthy grass keep on being active all year round. Our natural treatments are designed to maximise the activity and health of these free helpers so that your lawn looks its best for the entire year. Activity reduces during the winter, but treatments such as aeration will ensure a Great Lawn the following summer.

Can you treat moss problems?
Yes. Our unique FerroCarb liquid treatment, followed by scarifying will remove moss. Our regular treatments will then ensure a healthy soil and thick lawn that keeps moss at bay.

Do I have to sign a contract?
No. We do not believe that contracts are the right way to ensure your regular custom. We are convinced that you will ask us back time and time again because of the excellent results of our work on your lawn.

How can I pay?
You can pay using a number of methods. Cash and cheques can be exchanged for an invoice with your local Specialist or our Head Office, or you can transfer direct to our bank account. Please ask for details.
